Shiloh Baptist Church

Church History

On October 12, 1932, Shiloh Baptist Church was organized in an old church building on Ham Street in College Park, Georgia. Reverend S. E. Gore was Moderator and Reverend H. T. Thomas was chosen as the first Pastor and served faithfully for thirty-four years.

After a few months on Ham Street, Shiloh was able to rent the old schoolhouse for $10 per month in 1933.

In 1939, under the leadership of Reverend Thomas, five deacons were ordained, Bro. Luther Darden, Bro. D. J. Jackson, Sr., Bro. Floyd Jones, Bro. Richard Weldon, and Bro. J. B. Wright.

The church conducted services temporarily in the recreation center due to the Urban Renewal Project. Later, Dea. J. B. Wright encouraged the Trustee Board to purchase the property located at 2079 W. Columbia Avenue, College Park, GA and the church was built in 1966.

Reverend Thomas passed on November 22, 1966.  After the passing of Reverend H. T. Thomas, Shiloh has been blessed over the years with the following Pastors: Reverend P. Williams, Reverend C. L. Carter, Reverend R. L. Jordan, Reverend D. L. Cantrell, Sr., and Reverend C. L. Powell who all served faithfully.

On Sunday, February 4, 2018, Reverend Le’Zaire D. Reese was selected as Pastor, Elect. On Sunday, March 18, 2018, Reverend Le’Zaire D. Reese was installed as Senior Pastor.

During his years of ministry as Pastor, many souls have come to Christ. Pastor Reese first duty was to implement the Mission for the church.

Our Church Mission: “We exist to declare and demonstrate the liberating power of the gospel of Jesus Christ by communicating the love of God to everyone that enters and the community abroad”.

At Shiloh,
Souls will be saved.
Hearts will be mended.
Inner peace you’ll find
Love you’ll feel.
Open arms you’ll receive.
Happiness will return.

Pastor Reese is very diligent in making a mark and leaving an impact on the lives of the members and the community.  He is an anointed, and powerful man of God who masterfully stir souls, lift spirits and conveys the gospel with his Preaching! He is a servant-leader and loves his members.

Pastor Reese counsels, visits sick and shut-in members and provide support to bereaved members.  He recognizes the importance of denominational work so we as a church has become very active with National Baptist Convention, General Baptist Convention of Georgia.

Pastor Reese instituted Fresh WIND Wednesday “Walking in Newness Daily” which is every Wednesday starting at 6:00am with a Morning Prayer Call followed by Noon Day Bible Study for our seasoned saints and Pastors Bible study at 7:00pm with the assistance of  associate ministers and deacons.  Pastor Reese has set aside deacons in-training.  He has reorganized the youth department. We continue to be excited about our future under the leadership of our Pastor Le’Zaire D. Reese and we give God all the Glory!
